Interactive Sustainability Dashboards Have Arrived

In 2025, the Sustainability Division developed and published four interactive, public-facing dashboards to track progress toward Metro's sustainability goals. Different data visualizations appear when users select options from the dropdown menus or click on alternative views within each dashboard. Each title and image below is a clickable hyperlink to the respective dashboard.

High Performance Building Dashboard

The Sustainability Division publishes an annual High Performance Building Report that shows the water, energy, and cost savings of General Services' LEED certified buildings compared to similar non-LEED buildings. In 2024, the LEED buildings avoided more than $1,000,000 in energy costs and more than $431,000 in water costs.

Greenhouse Gas Emissions Dashboard

The Sustainability Division works with the Mayor's Office and other city departments to conduct regular greenhouse gas emissions inventories. The most recent inventory, completed in 2025 based on 2022 data, details sources and trends for emissions from both municipal operations and the Nashville community overall. As a companion to the dashboard, the division published a brief summary of the 2022 inventory that includes key takeaways as well as a detailed methodology document .

Solar Production Dashboard

The Sustainability Division tracks solar capacity and production for all of Metro Nashville's monitored solar assets. From January-November 2025, Metro's 13,500+ rooftop and ground-mounted solar panels produced more than 6,850,000 kWh of clean electricity, avoiding more than 5,400 metric tons of CO2e.

Renewable Portfolio Standard

Metro Nashville's Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) requires that Metro Government utilize 100% tier-one renewable energy by 2041 with stairstep goals until then. This new dashboard allows users to see how different scenarios impact progress toward Metro's RPS goals.

These dashboards offer new ways for users to view, track, and interact with the data that the Sustainability Division collects. Sharing and visualizing this data is yet another way to demonstrate Metro's progress toward sustainability goals while highlighting the important work of the division.
