The Portland Police Major Crash Team is investigating a collision involving a vehicle that crashed into a utility pole in the Ashcreek-Crestwood Neighborhood.
On Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 8:09 p.m., Portland Police Officers from Central Precinct responded to a report of a crash on Southwest Capital Highway and Southwest Brugger Street. The driver and front passenger were transported to a local hospital via ambulance. The driver sustained serious injuries. The passenger's injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
An off-duty firefighter with the Portland Fire Bureau as well as an off-duty nurse stopped and assisted with emergency medical care on the vehicle's occupants until paramedics arrived.
The Portland Police Traffic Division Major Crash Team is responding to the scene to investigate. During the investigation, Southwest Capitol Highway is closed between Southwest Brugger Street and Southwest Marigold Street.
