PRESS STATEMENT 053

Spanish Government expresses solidarity with Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in the face of Russian disinformation campaign and drone attacks

Today
The Spanish Government expresses its full solidarity with Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in the face of the campaign of intimidation and disinformation launched by Russia, which has included threats of the use of force against Latvia during the United Nations Security Council meeting on 19 May.

These acts of disinformation and the repeated incursions by drones into the airspace of the Baltic States are reprehensible provocations that seek only to increase tension in the region.

Spain reiterates its firm commitment to the security of every EU Member State and NATO ally, as well as its support for Ukraine in defending its sovereignty and in the pursuit of a just and lasting peace, in accordance with the United Nations Charter.
