SACP condemns violence against journalists by US and apartheid Israel

Friday, 20 March 2026:- The South African Communist Party (SACP) condemns the targeting and subsequent murder of journalists, particularly of Al Jazeera and Russia Today, by the apartheid Israeli and imperialist US military in the ongoing war against Iran.

Despite their claim to be representatives of free press, the US and Israeli forces have collaborated to suppress news outlets that they consider unfavourable to narratives they seek, including by using violence.

In addition to this particular harassment of journalists, the apartheid Israeli regime already has a terrible reputation on this score, having murdered over 40 journalists in Gaza in the ongoing genocide against Palestinian people.

As the SACP, we pledge our solidarity with the affected news organisations, Al Jazeera and RT, as well as journalists associated with them.

We condemn the violence against journalists as much as we condemn the suppression of the media to serve imperialists' interests.
