Overnight Lane Closures on Southbound I-680 Including Willow Pass Road On Ramps in Pleasant Hill for Emergency Roadway Settlement Repairs

Contra Costa County - Caltrans Construction has revised its traffic management plan during emergency repairs for roadway settlement on southbound I-680 in Pleasant Hill, just south of Willow Pass Road and before the Monument Boulevard off-ramp. For the safety of both drivers and work crews, eastbound and westbound Willow Pass Road/Sun Valley Boulevard on-ramps to southbound I-680, along with the far-right lanes, will be closed while compaction grouting operations continue.

Closure Schedule

• Days: Monday through Saturday
• Dates: Continues Wednesday, July 22, 2026, through Friday, September 4, 2026 (tentative completion date)
• Time: 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM

Closures Include

• Southbound I-680 Right shoulder, Lane #3 and Lane #4
• EB/WB Willow Pass Road/Sun Valley Boulevard on-ramps to southbound I-680

*No access to SB I-680 from Willow Pass Road/Sun Valley Boulevard *

Detour Information

• WB Willow Pass Road/Sun Valley Boulevard on ramp to 680 SB, take left onto Contra Costa Blvd, and then left onto Monument Blvd and continue to I-680 SB.
• EB Willow Pass Road/Sun Valley Boulevard on ramp to 680 SB take right onto Market Street, and then right onto SR-242 SB and continue to I-680 SB.

Compaction grouting is the first phase of the emergency repair project and will stabilize the roadway foundation beneath the settled pavement.

The overall project includes:

• Compaction grouting to stabilize the roadway foundation
• Pavement repairs
• Dike replacement
• Drainage system repairs
• Slope reconstruction and stabilization
• Permanent erosion control improvements

These repairs are necessary to restore the structural integrity of the roadway and prevent additional settlement and erosion.

Traffic Control Measures:

Changeable message signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area. Motorists are advised to expect delays, prepare to merge and allow for extra travel time. Please drive with caution through the construction zone. Slow for the Cone Zone.
