The Georgia Department of Natural Resources' (DNR) Coastal Resources Division (CRD) is now accepting pre-applications for Coastal Incentive Grants (CIGs) that support the goals of the Georgia Coastal Management Program (GCMP).

Since 1998, the GCMP has provided federal financial assistance to eligible applicants to help balance economic development along Georgia's coast with the protection of natural, cultural, and recreational resources.

This year, grant themes include:

  1. Oceans and Wetlands
  2. Public Access and Land Conservation
  3. Sustainable Communities
  4. Disaster Resiliency and Coastal Hazards
  5. Nature-Based Solutions

Eligible applicants include state agencies (excluding DNR), qualified local governments, regional commissions, and state colleges, universities, and research institutions. Projects must be located within one or more of the 11 coastal counties in the GCMP area: Brantley, Bryan, Camden, Chatham, Charlton, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long, McIntosh, and Wayne. Regional projects that include multiple counties within the coastal area are encouraged.

Pre-applications and supporting documentation must be submitted electronically through CRD's Submission Portal no later than 4:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2025. CIGs are reimbursement-based grants with a required 1:1 non-federal match. The maximum award is $80,000, with deliverables due between Oct. 1, 2026, and Sept. 30, 2027.

CRD will host three virtual workshops on Oct. 7, 8, and 9 to help applicants navigate the submission process. To register for a workshop, access the Submission Portal, or learn more about the program, visit CoastalGaDNR.org/CIG/Application.
