Draft General Plan amendments are now available for public review!
Recent changes to state law require the City of Fremont to update its General Plan as it relates to open space access, climate resiliency, and wildlife and habitat connectivity. These amendments will serve as an addendum to the existing Land Use and Open Space Element and Conservation Element. By referencing existing citywide plans and policies that have been implemented since the 2011 adoption of the General Plan, the draft amendments demonstrate the City's compliance with Senate Bill 1425 and Assembly Bill 1889.
The draft amendments are linked below. The public review period will be open from October 13, 2025 to October 27, 2025. During the public review period, interested parties may email their comments on the draft General Plan amendments to the City's Planning Division by email. Comments received during the public review period will be provided to the City's Planning Commission for consideration.
The draft General Plan amendments are tentatively scheduled to be considered at the November Planning Commission meeting. Meeting agendas and staff reports are published on the City's Agenda Center at least 72 hours prior to the meeting. A notification will be sent once the Planning Commission meeting agenda and staff report are published.
