Mizzou CAFNR students shine in competitive team competitions

At the University of Missouri, students in the College of Agriculture, food and Natural Resources gain immersive, hands-on learning experiences and make meaningful industry connections. This spring, student teams represented Mizzou at a variety of competitions, showcasing their skills on a national stage.

Mizzou Dairy Products Evaluation Team receives high ranking at national contest

The Mizzou Dairy Products Evaluation Team competed in the National Dairy Products Evaluation contest in Madison, Wisconsin, hosted by the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association. The team, which included undergraduate and graduate students, placed second in cottage cheese and ice cream, third in yogurt, and fourth in both milk and all products.

MU Collegiate Soil Judging Team wins fourth place at national contest

The MU Soils Judging team placed fourth in a field of 16 at the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture Judging Conference in Canyon, Texas. Mizzou, scoring only one point behind the third-place team, was represented by 22 CAFNR students from the School of Natural Resources and the Division of Plant Science and Technology.

Mizzou National Agri-Marketing Association (NAMA) wins first place at national competition

The Mizzou NAMA team received first place out of 30 teams from across the U.S. and Canada in the student marketing competition at the 2024 Agri-Marketing Conference held in Kansas City. For the competition, student teams presented a marketing plan for a new agricultural product. This year, Mizzou's product was EyeScout, an AI-powered camera designed to detect symptoms of pinkeye in cattle with 99.4% accuracy.

Plant sciences students see success at National Collegiate Landscape Competition

Mizzou's Collegiate Landscaping Team received 15th place out of 54 schools attending the National Collegiate Landscape Competition at Colorado State University. Additionally, Tim Moloney, instructor in the Division of Plant Sciences and Technology and team coach, was selected to serve on the NCLC Faculty Committee for a three-year appointment.

CAFNR students earn awards at Midwest American Society of Plant Biologists

Biochemistry and plant sciences students attended the Midwest American Society of Plant Biologists meeting at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and competed in both oral and poster presentation competitions. Students took second and third place in the poster presentation and first and second in the oral presentation.

Students see success at Midwest American Society of Animal Science Meeting

Animal sciences students attended the Midwest American Society of Animal Science Meeting in Omaha, Nebraska. At the meeting, the Academic Quadrathlon Team secured their fourth consecutive first-place finish. Two students also earned honors in the research presentation contest.
