Join us at a community workshop to share ideas on how the City of Berkeley can create development and preservation policies that better prepare for natural disasters, climate change, and reduced exposure to pollution.

You will participate in an interactive mapping activity to detail your experiences, contribute ideas, and connect with staff and other community members working toward a safer, more sustainable Berkeley.

We'll be using your input as part of a multi-year effort to update our General Plan, the City's guide for the physical development of the city. In particular, we're looking to update the portion focused on disaster preparedness and safety while also adding a new section about environmental justice.

We'll also use the workshop to provide more information about how climate change, disaster preparedness, and environmental justice impact Berkeley.

Your feedback will inform the City about how we go about creating a safer, healthier, and more equitable communities by:

  • Reducing pollution in areas where you live and work.
  • Protecting you and your community from environmental hazard risks (i.e. earthquakes, floods, air quality, health risks, power, and water shutoffs).
  • Providing resources to areas that may face greater exposure to natural disasters, pollution, or have unequal access to housing, healthcare, schools, or grocery stores.

You can learn more on the project page and by subscribing to email updates.

Join us in person on February 1. Share your experiences regarding climate, air pollution and disaster preparedness. Help shape a plan to build a more resilient Berkeley.
