In recent weeks, some Italian pasta brands have been under scrutiny by the authorities for alleged trade practices involving exports to the United States at below market costs ("dumping").
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been following the proceedings since early September, when the US Department of Commerce published the preliminary results of its investigation, which calls for the US to impose provisional anti-dumping duties of over 91%.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working closely with the companies concerned, and in agreement with the European Commission, to ensure that the US Department revises the provisional duties imposed on our companies.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has formally intervened in the proceedings as an "interested party" through the Embassy in Washington to help companies assert their case.
The Italian Government hopes that the United States will recognise the fairness and full willingness of our producers to cooperate in the ongoing investigation.
