Worcester Issues Request for Information for Citywide Fiber-to-the-Premises Broadband Initiative

WORCESTER, Mass. - The City of Worcester announced Thursday the release of a Request for Information (RFI) seeking input and innovative ideas from qualified vendors and industry stakeholders to support the development of a citywide Fiber-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network. The municipality aims to gather information that will maximize access to high-speed, reliable, and affordable internet service.

"The City of Worcester is actively working to bridge the digital divide," said City Manager Eric D. Batista. "We want every household, business, school, and non-profit to have access to next generation connectivity. This RFI is the next step toward that goal and is part of our broader strategy to strengthen digital equity, expand economic opportunity, and enhance public services."

The RFI invites organizations with expertise in broadband infrastructure, network operations, emerging technologies, digital inclusion strategies, and public-private partnership models to provide insights that will inform Worcester's long-term broadband vision. The RFI is not a competitive bid and does not require legally binding proposals.
