1 AUGUST IN THE PARLIAMENT BUILDING: OPEN DAY

On 1 August, the Parliament Building will open its doors to the public from 8.30am to 4.30pm, offering a unique opportunity to explore the impressive chambers of both Councils, the Domed Hall and the lobby, as well as the Federal Council chamber and the Parliamentary Library in the Federal Palace West Wing. Admission is free of charge.

One of the highlights of the day is the discussions with both Council presidents: Andrea Caroni, President of the Council of States, will give an insight into parliamentary proceedings in the Stöckli (Council of States chamber) at 12pm. At 1pm, he will join National Council president Maja Riniker to answer questions from the public in the National Council chamber. Both talks will be interpreted simultaneously into French and Italian.

Visitors can also look forward to informative, multilingual guided tours of the Parliament Building and the workings of Parliament, as well as musical performances by Trionettli and an Appenzell ensemble from the home cantons of the Council presidents.

The exhibition 'The 25th anniversary of the current Federal Constitution' in the Domed Hall sheds light on the origins of this important document, while the Café Zeitungszimmer invites visitors to take a break and enjoy refreshments. There is also a special programme for children featuring competitions, temporary tattoos and badges. In the Federal Palace West Wing, visitors can get a glimpse of the Federal Council chamber, and an audio tour offers the chance to explore the building and its surroundings independently.

We look forward to your visit and an unforgettable Swiss National Day at the heart of Swiss democracy.
