WASHINGTON, D.C.-Today, Congressman Pat Harrigan (NC-10) voted to pass H.J. Res. 88, a resolution blocking the Biden Environmental Protection Agency's waiver that would let California ban gas-powered vehicles and force electric mandates across the country. This vote defends Americans' freedom to drive what they want and pushes back against one-state rule.
"California politicians should not be deciding what cars North Carolinians can drive. I will always stand up for consumer freedom, energy independence, and working families who are already getting crushed by rising costs," said Congressman Harrigan.
H.J. Res. 88 strikes down an EPA decision that gave California special permission to ban the sale of new gas-powered vehicles by 2035, a mandate that would pressure automakers nationwide and hike costs for working families. Without action, California's ban could effectively dictate vehicle options for Americans coast to coast.
Congressman Harrigan remains committed to fighting for energy freedom, defending working families, and making sure Washington works for America-not California politicians. He urges the Senate to move quickly and block this reckless policy.
