Dear UAA Faculty and Staff,
Last year, the three universities worked with UAHR and system governance groups to improve how Longevity Awards are determined for faculty and staff. These changes, which will be implemented this fiscal year, include honoring employees' prior service as students, temporary assignments, and breaks in service when calculating longevity.
Previously, Longevity Awards were granted by calendar year. Moving forward, Longevity Awards will align with the fiscal year (July 1-June 30). We acknowledge this is a new approach and made every effort to recognize employees affected by this process change this year. If we unintentionally missed someone, or if you feel your information is incorrect, please email Employee Experience so we can address it promptly.
Additionally, we're pleased to announce the return of Longevity Award gifts. This has been a long-standing desire and achieves recommendations from previous task forces on employee recognition. Your input matters. Please take a moment to share your thoughts on the proposed Longevity Award gifts by completing this brief survey on the proposed gifts.
Awardees will be recognized at Faculty and Staff Convocation on Friday, Aug. 22. When the gifts and pins arrive, Employee Experience will reach out to awardees to pick up their items.
If you haven't RSVP'd for Faculty and Staff Convocation, please do so for in-person and online options. Join us on Aug. 22 for a continental breakfast reception in Cuddy Hall from 9-9:45 a.m. followed by the ceremony in the Wendy Williamson Auditorium from 10-11 a.m.
We are looking forward to reconnecting with you and celebrating the beginning of the academic year.
Sincerely,
Cheryl Siemers
UAA Interim Chancellor
