Pool, Pizza and Paint: Kids Night Out on Oct. 16 at Student Recreation Center

Swimming, painting, games and pizza. For kids, that's a pretty good Friday night. For parents and guardians, it's four free hours.

UToledo Recreational Services will host Kids Night Out from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at the Student Recreation Center. Children ages 5 to 12 will spend the evening with Recreational Services staff and families can enjoy a dinner out, a quiet night in or anything else on their list.

The evening is packed with activities. Kids will jump in the pool, create a Board & Brush craft to take home, play games throughout the Student Recreation Center and refuel with a pizza dinner. It's a chance to explore one of the biggest spaces on campus and spend a Friday night with new friends.

Kids Night Out is open to families of faculty, staff and students as well as members of the community. Registration is $60 per child and closes at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15. With only 40 spots available, families are encouraged to sign up early.

Getting Ready

Drop-off runs from 4:30 to 5 p.m. inside the Student Recreation Center, just past the front desk near the turnstiles. Kids Camp families will recognize it as the indoor, rainy-day drop-off spot. Registered families will receive pick-up instructions before the event.

Kids should bring a backpack with a labeled water bottle, swimwear, a towel, flip-flops, athletic clothes and closed-toe shoes. Cold snacks are welcome, as long as they are free of nuts, peanuts and shellfish. Electronics and toys can stay at home.

Families can join the Kids Night Out ClassDojo group for reminders and updates before and during the event. Kids Night Out follows the same youth program policies as Kids Camp, including procedures for any medication a child may need during the evening.
