The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is developing plans to replace a retaining wall and implement safety improvements on Route 47 in the town of Washington.
The project proposes to remove the existing concrete crib walls on Route 47 between School Street and Moody Bridge Road with a new retaining wall structure across the Church. The roadway will be reconstructed to provide a consistent cross-section with wider shoulders.
The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in November 2027, with construction anticipated to start in spring 2028, assuming acceptance of the project, availability of funding and receipt of any required right-of-way and environmental permits. This project will be undertaken with eighty percent (80%) Federal funds and twenty percent (20%) State funds.
It is CTDOT's policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken and important that the community share its concerns with CTDOT to assist in the project's development.
