Thirsty for Thought, a community-driven science communication initiative, hosts two upcoming events aimed at connecting researchers and the public through accessible, engaging conversations.
The first event, a Three Minute Thesis, or 3MT, edition of Thirsty for Thought, takes place Tuesday, April 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ex Novo Brewing Company, 701 Central Ave NW.
The event challenges participants to present their work in 180 seconds, encouraging clear and engaging communication across disciplines. Participants from all fields and career stages are encouraged to take part, including researchers, students and community members with projects or ideas to share. Cash prizes will be awarded, and those interested in presenting must sign up by Friday, April 24.
A second event, a Thirsty for Thought meet and greet, will be held Wednesday, May 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Differential Brewing, 500 Yale Blvd SE. The mixer is designed to introduce community members to the organization and provide opportunities to get involved as volunteers.
Both events, sponsored by UNM's Accelerating Resilience Innovations in Drylands Institute (ARID) and NM Inspires, are open to the public, including families. Food and nonalcoholic beverage options will be available.
Thirsty for Thought is a volunteer-led initiative focused on making science more accessible through informal, community-based conversations. The program creates spaces where scientists, experts and community members can connect over topics that matter in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
