NCDEQ to Hold Public Hearing on Bingham Park Remedial Action Plan

The NC Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) will hold a public hearing to discuss the proposed Bingham Park Remedial Action Plan on Tuesday, June 9, from 6-8 pm, Room 164, at Union Square Campus, 124 E. Gate City Blvd.

City staff will provide a brief presentation before NCDEQ opens the public hearing. Residents may provide comments on the Remedial Action Plan during the public comment portion of the meeting, with each speaker allotted up to three-minutes. Because this is a formal public hearing, NCDEQ staff will not respond to comments during the meeting. Responses will be provided by NCDEQ at a later date. Questions should be limited to the Remedial Action Plan and directed to NCDEQ.

Those who cannot attend the public hearing may provide written comments on the Remedial Action Plan to NCDEQ through Tuesday, June 30, by email to [email protected] with the subject line "Bingham Park," or by mail to Laura Osborne, NC Division of Waste Management, Pre-Regulatory Landfill Unit, 1646 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699-1646.

The Bingham Park Remedial Action Plan may be reviewed online by accessing the Pre-Regulatory Landfill Sites website at www.deq.nc.gov. Select Waste Management from the Division drop down, select Superfund Section, then select Pre-Regulatory Landfill. On the right side of the page, select PRLF Remedial Action Plan Public Notices. The document is also available for review on the City's website at www.greensboro-nc.gov/BinghamParkProject.

The Remedial Action Plan can be reviewed in-person at the Vance H. Chavis Branch, Greensboro Public Library, 900 S. Benbow Rd., Greensboro, NC 27401, or the NC Division of Waste Management, 217 West Jones St., Raleigh, NC 27605.
