Federal Foreign Office statement on China’s recent military exercises around Taiwan
A Federal Foreign Office Spokesperson issued the following statement today (30 December 2025) on China's recent military exercises around Taiwan:
We are concerned about China's recent military exercises around Taiwan. The exercises heighten tensions and undermine stability in the Taiwan Strait. Peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait are of strategic importance to regional and international security and prosperity. Any change to the status quo should only come about by peaceful means and mutual consent. The German Government calls for restraint and dialogue.
