Celebrating Cultural Diversity: El Sol Festival

Get ready for a weekend full of flavor, rhythm, and joy at El Sol Festival, a free community event, from Friday, June 20th to Sunday, June 22nd at M&M Marketplace (346 SW Walnut St, Hillsboro, OR). This festival celebrates the cultural richness of our community through music, dance, and food.

Whether you come to dance, eat, shop, or just enjoy the atmosphere, El Sol Festival is the perfect way to connect with the community and celebrate our cultures.

New This Year

El Sol Festival will span three days of celebration, all in one weekend. The event is free and open to all ages, so bring the whole family! Enjoy live entertainment, culinary delights from around the world, and a vibrant outdoor atmosphere.

Festival Program

Friday, June 20 | 5:00 - 8:30 pm
Kick off the weekend with a Latin party night:

DJ Noops will set the mood with danceable rhythms.

Lines Dance Studio will offer cumbia classes from 5:30 - 6:00 pm.

Dance the night away with Neri Rodríguez and Los Cumbiamberos from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.

Saturday, June 21 | 12:00 - 4:30 pm
A multicultural evening that will take you from Asia to South America:

12:00 - 12:45 pm: Traditional Chinese dances with the Chinese Friends Association of Portland.

1:00 - 1:45 pm: Classical Indian and Bollywood dance performance with Rhythm Dance Academy.

2:00 - 2:20 pm: Powerful performance by White Lotus with Lion Dance.

2:30 - 3:10: Celtic energy with An Daire Academy of Irish Dance.

3:30 - 4:30: Musical closing with Tito Amaya and his Grupo Latitudes, featuring Andean and Nueva Trova music.

Sunday, June 22 | 12:00 - 6:00 pm
A day full of culture, music, and participation:

12:00 - 12:45: Hawaiian and Tahitian dance with Hula Hulau 'Ohana Holo'oko'a.

1:00 - 2:00: Traditional dances with Casa de la Cultura Tlanese.

2:10 - 2:50: Interactive hip-hop dance with 503 Portland Sliders.

3:00 - 4:00: Mexican folk dance with Ballet Papalotl.

4:00 - 5:00: Jazz with Murtle Brown and the Executive Groove.

5:00 - 6:00: Native American Music with Sherrie Davis & Global Fusion.
