Ricketts Celebrates “Venerable” Father Flanagan

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today,U.S.Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE) released the following statementafter Pope Leo XIV proclaimed that Fr. Edward Joseph Flanagan, founder of Boys Town, lived a life of heroic virtue - a step in the process of canonization for sainthood:

"The Venerable Father Flanagan was a dedicated priest and exemplary Nebraskan. His commitment to the Catholic faith and the welfare of children is a model for us all. Father Flanagan's work with Boys Town made sure that countless young Nebraskans had the education, support, and community they needed to succeed. We still see the benefits of his mission today. Thank you, Pope Leo XIV, for recognizing Father Flanagan's life and work."
