State Route 49 Construction Update for Gold Country Corridor

Placer County - Caltrans is reminding motorists of various lane and ramp closures in multiple locations along State Route 49 (SR 49) as several projects continue in Placer County.

Here is the breakdown for next week:

Sidewalk Gap Closure Project
  • Southbound between Dry Creek Road and Bell Road, various lane closures are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday, September 14 through Thursday, September 18. Work is scheduled to end for the week by 7 a.m. Friday, September 19.
Safety Barrier Project
  • Extended lane reduction at Lone Star Road
    • Northbound SR 49 is scheduled to reopen to two lanes by 3 p.m. Monday, September 15.
    • Southbound SR 49 is scheduled to reopen to two lanes by 6 a.m. Tuesday, September 16.
    • Movement around the roundabout will be limited at various times and only allow right-hand turns onto SR 49. Motorists will need to detour northbound or southbound to the next legal U-turn as needed.
  • Northbound between Lorenson Road/Florence Lane and Lone Star Road, various lane closures are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, September 15 through Friday, September 19 and from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday, September 15 through Thursday, September 18.
  • Southbound between Lone Star Road and Lorenson Road/Florence Lane, various lane closures are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, September 15 through Friday, September 19 and from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday, September 15 through Thursday, September 18.

The extended lane closures will help to minimize the duration of the work and improve workers' safety. Motorists may experience delays between 15 to 20 minutes, depending on traffic volumes. The schedule is subject to change or be delayed due to weather, availability of materials or other unexpected events.

Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to "Be Work Zone Alert" and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
