Frontage Road in Jerome will partially close beginning tomorrow until mid-July

JEROME - The Idaho Transportation Department will close the westbound lane of E Frontage Road N beginning tomorrow until mid-July. This closure will allow crews to complete concrete work and connect E Frontage Road N to Lincoln Avenue.

What to expect:

  • Motorists traveling westbound will be detoured to Yakima Ave. View the detour map.
  • The eastbound lane will remain open to motorists.
  • Business access will remain open, but the routes will change.
  • Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, check 511 and use caution when driving through work zones.

This work is part of ITD's I-84 South Jerome Interchange (Exit 168) replacement project. This project will improve safety and increase capacity on the interchange to serve the needs of South-central Idaho for years to come. Improvements include:

  • Replacing the current interchange with a Divided Diamond/Couplet Interchange.
  • Installing new traffic signals.
  • Adding a sidewalk and bike lanes to the Lincoln Avenue bridges.

Motorists can continue to expect intermittent I-84 and local road closures, traffic shifts and ramp changes throughout the duration of the project. The contractor will complete paving, local road connections, install lighting and traffic signals, guardrail, signs, curb, gutter and sidewalks and final striping.

The project is part of Gov. Little's Leading Idaho initiative, which allows the Idaho Transportation Department to advance large projects that will enhance safety, improve mobility, further strengthen Idaho's economy, and positively impact the Magic Valley and communities across the state for years to come.

Construction is anticipated to be completed in Fall 2026.
