Plastic bags
Plastic bags and thin film wrap are not recyclable in Tempe. Take clean and dry plastic grocery bags, product wrap and other bags labeled #2 and #4 to participating grocery stores and retailers. Never bag recyclables.
Protect your pipes
While cooking this holiday season, remember to keep fats, oils and grease (FOG) out of the drain to prevent sewer backups and overflows. FOG can be found in food scraps, meat fats, lard, oil, butter, sauces, salad dressings, marinades and dairy products.
Instead, consider recycling your used fryer oil or cooking oil at the Household Products Collection Center through early January. Visit tempe.gov/FOG for information.
Dispose of cooking grease properly by pouring it into a sealable container once it has cooled, then discard in the trash.
