Idaho Delegation Supports Empowerment of Local Communities for America’s 250th Celebration

Washington, D.C.--The Idaho Congressional Delegation sent a letter to U.S. Department of Interior Secretary Doug Burgum requesting the agency allocate portions of the funding provided under Section 50305 of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act directly to the 56 state and territorial America 250 (A250) commissions. The 250th celebration of America's founding will be an opportunity to support local history organizations and bring history to life for millions of Americans.

"Over the past several years, we have advocated for meaningful investment in America 250 (A250) activities, with a focus on ensuring celebrations are rooted in local communities through the support of more than 21,000 history organizations across the country," the letter reads in part.

"Doing so will empower communities across the nation to participate in, and shape, commemorations reflective of their individual histories and contributions to our shared national story," the letter continues. "In Idaho, partnerships between communities and local history organizations have proven to be an essential asset in educating young Idahoans and preserving our state's unique history."
