SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV - Shepherd University President Dr. Cam Wesson shared early observations and priorities with the Shepherd University Board of Governors on Thursday, August 13, marking his first 42 days leading the University.
Wesson discussed what he has learned through meetings with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members and outlined several areas of focus of Shepherd's future.
"These initial 42 days have confirmed what I already knew: Shepherd is a community defined by dedicated people, incredible talent, and a deep commitment to our students," said Wesson. "As we look ahead, our top priority must be creating an environment where every student thrives-academically, technologically, and physically."
During his presentation, Wesson highlighted several major priorities:
"We have a clear responsibility to build a resilient, forward-looking foundation," Wesson added. "Whether that means strengthening our campus power systems, building intuitive digital tools, or framing a strategy that highlights our unique identity, everything we do will serve our students and advance Shepherd's mission."
Wesson and University leadership will begin forming committees and creating opportunities for campus input as the strategic planning process moves forward.
