ACHP Votes to Propose to Rescind NEPA and UDAG Regulations

The ACHP recently voted unanimously to propose two rulemakings to rescind outdated and obsolete regulations.

In response to the President's direction and the general policy set forth in Executive Order 14192, Unleashing Prosperity through Deregulation, the ACHP identified 36 CFR Part 801, the Historic Preservation Requirements of the Urban Development Action Grant Program, as outdated and no longer needed. Additionally, in response to the President's direction in Executive Order 14154, Unleashing American Energy, and the Council on Environmental Quality's February 2025 guidance to federal agencies on revising existing agency procedures to implement the National Environmental Policy Act, the ACHP reviewed the agency's existing NEPA regulations at 36 CFR Part 805 and proposes to rescind the regulations in full via interim final rule.

The proposed actions will make their way through the rulemaking process soon.
