Tallahassee, Fla., February 11, 2026 - Today, Commissioner of Education Anastasios Kamoutsas announced that mid-year progress monitoring results on the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) showed significant increases since the beginning of the year. On the FAST English Language Arts Progress Monitoring, 49% of students are performing at or above grade level, which is an increase of 10 percentage points from the beginning of the school year and an increase of 4 percentage points compared to the same time last year. On the FAST Mathematics Progress Monitoring, 34% of students are performing at or above grade level, an increase of 18 percentage points from the beginning of the school year and a 3-percentage point increase over last year.
The mid-year results show students are mastering end-of-year benchmarks earlier in the school year than ever before with over 50,000 students now performing on or above grade level in English language arts compared to last year and nearly 20,000 additional students on or above grade level in mathematics. These gains reflect the impact of the high-quality instruction that is taking place in classrooms across the state.
Commissioner Kamoutsas shared a message with teachers and parents highlighting the mid-year progress monitoring results and encouraging them to partner together to help every student finish the school year strong.
