Senator Markey Statement on Israel-Hamas Peace Deal
Washington (October 9, 2025) - Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) released the following statement on the announcement of an Israel-Hamas peace deal.
"After two years of a brutal and deadly war, I welcome the recent progress on ceasefire negotiations. I am hopeful that we can end this tragic conflict, bring the hostages home, and provide desperately-needed humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza. Both Netanyahu and Hamas must now turn this fragile framework into a lasting agreement. We must not lose this opportunity to stop the bloodshed and set the Middle East on a path toward peace. I commend the diplomacy of American, Qatari, Egyptian, and Turkish mediators who never gave up on peace."
