(BROOME COUNTY, NY) - With the National Weather Service forecasting dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills dipping into negative digits through Wednesday, Broome County is taking steps to prepare residents. To mitigate the effects of the severe cold and provide rides to warming centers, BC Transit will offer free rides to all passengers through the end of the day on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
The Broome County Office of Emergency Services and the Department of Social Services (DSS) have identified the following warming centers and emergency shelter resources available during the colder temperatures.
