Reliable power supply for the entire base camp
With a gross energy capacity of 94 kWh, a continuous power output of 55 kVA and peak loads of up to 110 kVA, the LPO 100 reliably supplies a wide range of electrical loads. Various 230 V and 400 V connections allow production offices, catering facilities, refrigeration systems, air conditioning units and other technical infrastructure to be operated simultaneously.
The operating data also illustrates a typical load profile for film productions and events. While a diesel generator would have spent much of its operating time idling or running at partial load, the battery storage system supplied power on demand according to actual requirements.
Green production gains momentum
Sustainability has become an integral part of many film and television productions. Public broadcasters, film funding organisations and production companies are increasingly adopting green production standards to reduce the carbon footprint of their projects.
"Sustainability plays a role in almost every production today. At the same time, our requirements for a reliable power supply are high. Our entire base camp was supplied with electricity reliably throughout the filming period. We were particularly impressed by the simple operation, high flexibility and virtually silent performance. For us, it was essentially a large mobile power bank for an entire film production," explains Holger Kunze, first assistant director at Sally Forth Cinema, which produced the series for ARD on behalf of WDR.
In addition to providing a reliable power supply, the mobile battery storage system offers further advantages for filming operations. As the LPO 100 operates without the typical engine noise of a diesel generator, it is especially suitable for sensitive locations and night shoots. Furthermore, there is no need for refuelling, and the emissions typically associated with diesel generator operation are eliminated.
New application opportunities for mobile energy storage systems
For film productions, it is essential that energy is available exactly when it is needed. The LPO 100 can be rented flexibly through Liebherr's rental partner network and does not need to be purchased outright.
The project demonstrates how mobile battery storage systems can serve as a practical alternative for the temporary power supply of film and television productions. In addition to construction sites and events, film and television productions are becoming an increasingly important field of application for mobile energy storage solutions.
