USD News Minute: What you need to know this week at USD

This is your USD News Minute.

Wednesday is World Suicide Prevention Day and USD has several resources for emotional well-being and mental health promotion. Students can get certified in Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) training that can help save a life. That's on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. in UC 128. There will also be tabling outside of the Palomar Health Student Wellness Center to promote resources. It's part of USD's Year of Wellness. Visit the Be Well USD website to learn more.

Thursday, there will be a ceremony to honor those who lost their lives in the September 11th attacks. There will be a presentation by ROTC students, followed by an interfaith prayer. That's Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m. in the KIPJ Theatre.

And on Tuesday, September 16, you're invited to a special, on-campus premiere of the film Between the Mountain and the Sky ! This powerful award-winning documentary follows the life of Maggie Doyne and her journey in Nepal to ensure every child is safe, educated and loved. The screening is in partnership with the Karen and Tom Mulvaney Center for Community, Awareness and Social Action. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. in the KIPJ Theatre. The event is free and open to all at USD, but registration is required.
