Volodymyr Zelenskyy also highlighted the humanitarian functions of Ukrzaliznytsia: more than 3,650 medical train trips have been conducted to rescue wounded Ukrainian defenders and evacuate people from combat zones. In addition, railway workers carry out a diplomatic function - they have facilitated over 1,100 visits of foreign leaders and senior officials to Ukraine and across the country.

The President assured that the state will increase salaries and support programs for Ukrzaliznytsia.

"In fact, the railway is a line of defense for our state, for our people, for our lives. A line that comes under Russian strikes every day. Sadly, we have losses among our railway workers - 948 people, including 753 who gave their lives for all of us, for Ukraine, as part of the Defense Forces," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The memory of all fallen railway workers was honored with a moment of silence.

Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine - Minister for Development of Communities and Territories Oleksii Kuleba, Member of the Supervisory Board of Ukrzaliznytsia and Presidential Advisor for Strategic Issues Oleksandr Kamyshin, and Chairman of the Board of Ukrzaliznytsia Oleksandr Pertsovskyi showed the Head of State a new open-plan carriage, as well as the first barrier-free carriage fully equipped for people with disabilities. Currently, Ukrzaliznytsia operates 52 carriages adapted for passengers using wheelchairs.

In addition, Volodymyr Zelenskyy was shown an art carriage featuring photographs that depict the courage and resilience of the Ukrainian people.

The President also spoke with the crew of the Food Train that provides food to residents of cities affected by Russian strikes during power outages.
