Speaking volumes in the Summer 2025 Washington State Magazine

Unimaginable floods of data could transform health care and research, and artificial intelligence offers a huge analytical advantage. The Summer 2025 issue of Washington State Magazine details how Washington State University scientists are leveraging AI's abilities to improve health care, while voicing caution around replacing health care workers.

The issue also tells the story of Robert Shields and his extraordinary diary. It's believed to be the world's longest-and it's housed at WSU archives. "It'll be a while before we fully understand it," says WSU manuscripts librarian Will Gregg. "It's a complete representation of a person's life."

Read those two feature stories, along with many others in the new issue, out now. Learn about urban forests, recent WSU graduates and other alumni, WSU swimming success, cucumbers, a turtle ambassador, WSU-related books, and more in the magazine. All articles are available online, in print, and in other digital formats.
