New Law Improves Landfill Siting Process and Protects New Hampshire’s Environment

CONCORD, NH - Today, Governor Kelly Ayotte joined state leaders, North Country residents, and environmental advocates from across New Hampshire at Forest Lake State Park for a ceremonial signing of House Bill 707, which helps protect New Hampshire's outdoors and ensures local communities have a say in the siting process for new landfills.

"I said from day one that we would not let our North Country or any beautiful area of our state become a dumping ground for out-of-state trash," said Governor Ayotte. "With this new law, we're giving communities a voice in the landfill siting process and protecting New Hampshire's environment. I was proud to deliver this win for our North Country, and I thank the legislators and advocates who came together to make it happen."
