USDA Seeks Mushroom Council Nominees

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) seeks nominees for the Mushroom Council to fill three seats for three-year terms beginning Jan. 1, 2027, and ending Dec. 31, 2029, and one vacancy whose term ends Dec. 31, 2028.

USDA seeks nominees for the following seats whose terms end Dec. 31, 2029:

  • Region 1 (All states except California & Pennsylvania) - One seat
  • Region 2 (Pennsylvania) - One seat
  • Region 4 (Importers) - One seat

USDA also seeks nominees to fill a vacancy for a Region 1 seat whose term expires Dec. 31, 2028.

Nominees may seek nomination to the council for all open seats for which they are eligible.

The council is made up of nine industry members including eight producer members and one importer member. Since 1966, Congress has authorized industry-funded research and promotion boards to provide a framework for agricultural industries to pool resources and combine efforts to develop new markets, strengthen existing markets and conduct important research and promotion activities. The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) provides oversight to 21 boards. The oversight ensures fiscal accountability and program integrity and is paid for by industry assessments.
