Wärtsilä’s GEMS Pulse Winner of 'CleanTech Analytics Innovation Award' in 2026 CleanTech Breakthrough Awards program

Wärtsilä's GEMS Pulse Winner of "CleanTech Analytics Innovation Award" in 2026 CleanTech Breakthrough Awards program

Wärtsilä Corporation, News 10 April 2026 at 09:00 UTC+2

Technology group Wärtsilä announced that GEMS Pulse has received the "CleanTech Analytics Innovation Award" in the 3rd annual CleanTech Breakthrough Awards program conducted by CleanTech Breakthrough, an independent market intelligence organisation recognising standout climate and clean technology companies worldwide.

GEMS Pulse is part of Wartsila's GEMS platform, providing advanced control and optimisation for grid-scale energy storage and hybrid power systems, and is powered by data captured at over a million data points per second across over 9 GWh of operational energy storage.

Backed by an in-house team of battery scientists and a dedicated U.S.-based lab to validate behaviour from cell to system level, GEMS Pulse, alongside automated state-of-charge calibration through the GEMS Power Plant Controller (PPC), provides measurement accuracy that enables high-confidence SoC estimation, early anomaly detection, and lifecycle optimisation. By delivering measurement accuracy on cell imbalance and degradation, GEMS Pulse reduces uncertainty buffers that trap capacity, aligns trading strategies with true usable energy, and improves availability.

"GEMS Pulse delivers analytics that not only inform decisions but automate better ones, upgrading storage operations from reactive to predictive," said Bryan Vaughn, Managing Director, CleanTech Breakthrough. "By bridging predictive intelligence with hands-on control, GEMS Pulse gives owners a single, trusted source of truth, from cell to fleet, that maximises performance, revenue, and reliability."

Through data-driven capacity planning, GEMS Pulse also provides forward-looking insight into how operational strategies affect usable energy and long-term asset health. By simulating real-world operating strategies across different cycling, temperature, and power levels, Pulse helps operators quantify trade-offs between near-term opportunity and long-term performance, supporting cost-informed trading, future capacity planning, and optimised auxiliary power consumption.

"We're honoured to accept the 'CleanTech Analytics Innovation Award' from CleanTech Breakthrough. This award belongs to our team of engineers and field service experts who are actively shaping our solutions to solve real world customer challenges," said Tamara De Gruyter, President of Wärtsilä Energy Storage.
