WASHINGTON, DC - Senator Alsobrooks (D-Md.) released the following statement after Republicans blocked the War Powers Resolution that Senator Alsobrooks supported:
"In another act of betrayal against the American people, President Trump has dragged our country into a costly war.
"The Administration's justification for this war is contradictory and constantly shifting. If there were a clear rationale, they would state it.
"The American people cannot afford this war.
"Already, brave men and women in uniform have lost their lives for a war with no clear objective and no clear end.
"Further, Americans will pay for this war at their kitchen tables.
"That's why I voted for Senator Kaine's War Powers resolution to end this war. The Constitution is clear: the power to declare war belongs to Congress."
