Rowan University has once again been recognized as one of the top higher ed institutions in the U.S., earning a spot on Forbes' prestigious annual Top Colleges list.
In its Aug. 28 announcement, Forbes editors said they evaluated more than 500 colleges and universities using 14 key metrics to determine which schools deliver the strongest educational, financial and career outcomes for students.
Forbes emphasized that despite ongoing challenges in higher education - including federal funding cuts to research - American colleges continue to provide "gold-standard undergraduate education." Rowan's inclusion in the ranking highlights its growing reputation for academic excellence, affordability and student success.
Editors placed particular emphasis on return on investment, average student debt, and post-graduation career outcomes, while rewarding institutions that enroll and support greater numbers of low-income and first-generation students. Rowan's commitment to access, combined with its expanding academic offerings, helped secure its place among the nation's best.
Further boosting Rowan's national standing, The Princeton Review included the University in its latest guide, "The Best 391 Colleges: 2026 Edition," which profiles top-performing institutions based on student surveys, academic rigor, campus life and career preparation.
Rowan's academic momentum is reflected in its record-breaking enrollment this semester, welcoming the largest first-year class in its history - approximately 3,400 students. The university also celebrated a major milestone with the Sept. 2 opening of the Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine, the first veterinary school in New Jersey. This new school joins Rowan's growing portfolio of professional programs, including medicine, engineering, business and health sciences.
With a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary learning, research innovation and online education, Rowan continues to expand its impact. Partnerships with industry, government and labor organizations - such as a recent agreement with UA Local 322 Plumbers & Pipefitters in Hammonton - underscore Rowan's role as a leader in workforce development and lifelong learning.
