Protecting Children from Irreversible Harm

The Trump administration announced this week it is taking another important step to protect children by ending federal Medicaid and CHIP funding for puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and gender-transition surgeries for minors. The new policy ensures that taxpayers are no longer forced to subsidize these awful procedures that carry long-term and irreversible consequences, including permanent changes to a child's body and lifelong complications.

Children experiencing so-called gender dysphoria should be protected and receive compassionate mental-health counseling rather than being rushed toward irreversible medical interventions they may later regret. A minor cannot fully comprehend the lifelong consequences of losing fertility or permanently altering a healthy body.

As a strong defender of parental rights and innocent children, I support President Trump and HHS for standing up for kids and putting their health and well-being ahead of leftist ideology. Hard-earned taxpayer dollars should never be used to fund irreversible procedures on children. The federal government has a responsibility to protect children-not finance experiments on them.

Good News: Inflation Continues to Cool

American families are getting some relief from the inflation crisis that defined the Biden years. New federal data this week show consumer prices rose just 0.1% in July, while annual inflation fell from 3.5% to 3.4%. Core inflation also eased to 2.5%, its lowest level in months.

That is a dramatic improvement from the 9.1% inflation rate reached in June 2022-the highest increase in more than 40 years. At the time, American families were getting crushed by Bidenflation, including soaring prices for food, gasoline, energy and virtually everything else.

The Biden administration left Americans with an economy battered by inflation and declining purchasing power. Republicans and President Trump are working to reverse that damage by pursuing policies focused on energy production, American manufacturing, lower taxes, deregulation and economic growth.

We aren't declaring victory yet - but the direction is encouraging. After years of Washington policies that made life more expensive, we're finally seeing signs that America is getting its economic footing back. Lower inflation means more breathing room for working families-and that's a turnaround worth celebrating.

Massachusetts Democrats Push Abortion Without Limits

Massachusetts has taken another disturbing step in the wrong direction. This week, Democrat Governor Maura Healey has signed legislation eliminating the state's existing 24-week restrictions on abortion and giving physicians broad discretion to perform abortions later in pregnancy, including up to birth.

Let's be clear about what this means: Massachusetts is abandoning a meaningful gestational limit on abortion. Under the new law, there is no longer a statutory 24-week cutoff for later abortions; instead, the decision is left largely to the judgment of a physician. In essence, the new law effectively permits abortion throughout all nine months of pregnancy. That is sickening.

The abortion lobby and Governor Healey call this "patient access to care." I call it a profound failure to protect innocent human life. Murder.

At 24 weeks, an unborn child is highly developed and may be capable of surviving outside the womb with medical care. When did it become acceptable for government to decide that an innocent child's life has no value simply because that child has not yet been born?

The pro-life position is not complicated. Every innocent human life is precious and worthy of protection-from conception to natural death. We should be working to support mothers, strengthen families, expand adoption, and ensure women facing difficult pregnancies have real alternatives-not making it easier to end an innocent life.

Massachusetts has chosen to expand abortion. We should choose life.

As a nation, we must never become so desensitized that we stop recognizing the humanity of the unborn child. Every baby deserves a chance to be born, to grow, to dream, and to live.

Crime Rates Are Falling

I have some good news to share: crime is falling dramatically across America. New FBI data released this week show that violent crime dropped 9.3% in 2025, while the homicide rate fell 18.1% to its lowest level since 1956. Property crime also declined by 12.4%.

And the trend is continuing. An Axios analysis of 66 major U.S. cities found that homicides fell another 17.2% during the first half of 2026, with robbery, rape and aggravated assault also declining.

These numbers matter because the primary responsibility of government is to protect its citizens. That is one of the fundamental reasons people organize themselves into communities and nations in the first place: to keep our families safe.

For years, Americans watched crime surge while radical policies weakened law enforcement, made it harder to hold criminals accountable and, in too many cases, put repeat offenders back on the streets. The pandemic-era crime wave was devastating.

Now, America is moving in the right direction. President Trump has made law and order, support for law enforcement and public safety priorities of his administration. I will continue supporting policies that put criminals behind bars, empower our police and protect law-abiding Americans.

We should never take safer communities for granted. But after years of rising crime, Americans deserve to celebrate these historic gains-and keep fighting to make our communities even safer.
