(November 17, 2025) WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07) joined more than 30 House Republicans and Democrats in sending a letter to Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer urging them to include House members in negotiations ahead of next month's Senate vote on the expiring Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium tax credits. The lawmakers called for a bicameral approach in order to quickly advance a bipartisan solution to protect families from significant premium increases.
"Bipartisan engagement across both chambers will be essential to crafting a health care proposal that can pass and be signed into law," the Members wrote.
In the letter, the bipartisan group of lawmakers underscore that families nationwide who rely on the expiring ACA premium tax credits are facing drastic spikes to their health insurance costs.
Congressman Kean has consistently advocated for healthcare affordability in New Jersey in recent months. In September 2025, he joined as an original cosponsor of the Bipartisan Premium Tax Credit Extension Act (H.R.5145), legislation that would extend the ACA premium tax credits to protect New Jersey families and small businesses from steep healthcare premium increases.
Further, in October 2025, Congressman Kean joined 12 Republican lawmakers in sending a letter to Speaker Mike Johnson urging the House of Representatives to take immediate action on the expiring Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium tax credits as soon as the government reopened.
