WSU, University of Idaho come together to commemorate 25th anniversary of 9/11

A Remembrance Service for the 25th anniversary of 9/11 is taking place in the Terrell Library Atrium on Friday, Sept. 11.

The event, hosted by Veterans and Military Affiliated Student Services, will take place from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. All members of the public are invited to attend.

The event will open with a mixed color guard presentation by members of the ROTC programs at WSU as well as the University of Idaho. During the event, speakers will look back on one of the most shocking days in American history, including sharing 9-1-1 calls made on that fateful day. Organizers are also looking to incorporate materials made available by the 9/11 Memorial and Museum.

In the days leading up to the event, community members can stop by Veterans' Hall, between Terrell and Holland Libraries, to write messages to survivors, emergency responders, and families who lost loved ones on 9/11. These cards will also be available to those who attend Friday's event. Light refreshments will also be available following the service.

Cougs will also have the opportunity to participate in a 9/11 National Day of Service, which is being organized by the Center for Civic Engagement. More information about the National Day of Service is available online.
