Concord Endoscopy Center Earns Full DNV Accreditation

Concord Endoscopy Center Earns Full DNV Accreditation

Concord Endoscopy Center (CEC) has earned full accreditation following its first Ambulatory Surgical Center Accreditation survey by DNV, recognizing the Center's commitment to safe, high-quality and patient-centered care.

The accreditation followed a comprehensive survey conducted June 9-10 that evaluated patient care processes and organizational practices at CEC. During the review, surveyors highlighted several strengths, including the Center's commitment to patient-centered care, the quality of its annual clinical evaluations and its recognition on Becker's 2026 Top Ambulatory Surgical Centers list.

"Full accreditation is an important validation of the expertise, preparation and commitment our team brings to caring for patients every day," said Heather Schimp, MBA, DHA, director of Concord Hospital Gastroenterology and CEC. "Patients can feel confident knowing that the care they receive here has been evaluated against rigorous standards for quality and safety. I am incredibly proud of our entire team for earning this recognition."

For patients, accreditation provides added reassurance in the care they receive. The survey process examines how an ambulatory surgical center operates across the patient experience, evaluating the systems and practices in place to support consistent, safe and effective care.

At CEC, that commitment extends from preparation before a procedure through the procedure itself and recovery afterward, with physicians, nurses, clinical staff and support teams working together to provide coordinated care.

"Our goal has always been to provide the very best care for our patients, and this DNV accreditation is a testament to that commitment and all of the hard work our staff puts in every day," said Robert Chehade, MD, CEC medical director. "I am so proud of this group and thankful that I get to work with such an amazing team!"

While accreditation was awarded following the June survey, the achievement reflects work that takes place throughout the year. Maintaining strong clinical practices, evaluating outcomes and identifying opportunities for improvement are ongoing responsibilities shared across the Center.

"Accreditation isn't something a team earns because of two successful survey days,"Schimp said. "It reflects the consistency of the work happening before a patient ever walks through our doors and throughout their entire experience with us. Our physicians, nurses, clinical staff and support teams share a commitment to doing things the right way and continually looking for opportunities to make care even better."

That focus on continuous improvement was among the strengths reflected in CEC's annual clinical evaluations. The Center's recent inclusion on Becker's 2026 Top Ambulatory Surgical Centers list further complements the DNV accreditation, recognizing the expertise and quality of care provided by the team.

"I am incredibly proud of the Concord Endoscopy team and the dedication, professionalism, and commitment they demonstrated throughout the accreditation process. Achieving this regulatory accreditation is an important milestone for our center," said Amy McCarty, RN, CEC nurse manager. "Most importantly, this achievement is about the patients we care for. Our staff works tirelessly to provide safe, compassionate and high-quality care every day, and this accreditation recognizes their commitment to doing what is right for our patients and their families. This is an incredibly proud and rewarding accomplishment for the entire team and organization."

Earning accreditation for the first time was also a collaborative effort extending beyond the CEC. Departments and support teams from across Concord Hospital Health System contributed their expertise to the preparation and survey process.

"Achieving DNV accreditation reflects the dedication and teamwork that takes place every day at Concord Endoscopy Center," said Hannah Redin, Concord Hospital Gastroenterology practice manager. "For our front-line staff, this recognition validates our commitment to providing a safe, high-quality experience for every patient who walks through our doors. The front desk team plays a critical role in that experience, serving as the first point of contact, helping patients feel welcomed, informed, and supported from the moment they arrive. This achievement belongs to the entire team and demonstrates the importance of every role in delivering exceptional care."

For Schimp, the recognition belongs to the people whose work made it possible.

"This is an achievement our entire team can be proud of," Schimp said. "It speaks to their professionalism, attention to detail, and, most importantly, the responsibility they feel toward every patient who trusts us with their care. I am grateful to everyone at Concord Endoscopy Center and our colleagues throughout Concord Hospital Health System who contributed to this milestone."
