Speaker Mori's video meeting with Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine


On Wednesday, 25 February, Mr. MORI Eisuke, Speaker of the House of Representatives, had a video meeting with Dr. Ruslan Stefanchuk, Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Speaker Mori began by expressing his respect to Dr. Stefanchuk for his dedication to bringing about a just and lasting peace and to the people of Ukraine for their courage and patriotism as four years have passed since the start of Russia's aggression against Ukraine. He also referred to the House resolution adopted in 2022 that firmly reject any unilateral attempt to change the status quo by force and stated that the people of Japan will always stand with the Ukrainian people and are sincerely wishing for the war to end in a manner favorable to Ukraine.

Dr. Stefanchuk responded by congratulating Mr. Mori on taking office as Speaker. He then offered his appreciation for Japan's support and assistance to Ukraine.

They also discussed views on parliamentary exchange.
