BOSTON - ICE Boston arrested Maycon Souto Dos Reis, a criminal illegal alien and foreign fugitive from Brazil, during targeted operations Aug. 3 at Westborough District Court in Westborough.
Authorities in Brazil issued an arrest warrant for Dos Reis on Sept. 14, 2024, following his conviction for aggravated murder. He was sentenced to 14 years and three months in prison there.
Dos Reis came to ERO Boston's attention following his May 29 arrest for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in Southborough.
"This is yet another example of what the media often characterizes as a non-criminal, when in reality, many of these individuals are murderers, sexual predators, gang members and more. They simply do not have a criminal record in the United States," said acting ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston Field Office Director David Wesling. "We will continue to pursue these dangerous criminal aliens that sanctuary politicians fight to protect."
Dos Reis entered the United States illegally June 7, 2024, and was released into the country by the Biden administration.
He will remain in ICE custody pending the outcome of his deportation proceedings.
DHS's message is clear: If you come to our country illegally and break our laws, we will find you, arrest you, and you will never return. Under President Trump and Secretary Mullin, criminal illegal aliens are not welcome in the United States.
