Cedar Rapids Police Release April 2025 Crime Stats
Cedar Rapids Police have released April 2025 crime stats. Shots fired numbers continue to show reductions compared to 2024 and against the five-year-average. (8 percent reduction compared to 2024 and down 65 percent over the five-year-average.) In 2025, there have been two homicides representing a 50 percent decline over the five-year-average.
Each month, CRPD releases six key crime statistics which offer a snapshot of overall crime in the city. The categories are Homicide, Aggravated Assault, Burglary, Theft of Vehicles, Theft from Vehicles and Shots Fired.
An additional point for this month is a continued downward trend in shoplifting. A 16 percent decrease compared to this point last year and a 38 percent decline compared to the five-year-average are a positive development. Vigilance by retailers and increased security efforts are helping officers locate shoplifters and hold them accountable.
