Prime Minister Orpo to attend Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome

Prime Minister Petteri Orpo will represent Finland at the fourth Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome on Thursday 10 and Friday 11 July. During the visit, Prime Minister Orpo will have discussions with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, among others.

As in previous years, the high-level conference will bring together leaders and ministers from countries that support Ukraine, along with representatives of international organisations, financial institutions, businesses, regions, municipalities and civil society. The aim is to strengthen and coordinate support for Ukraine for as long as needed.

"Relative to its size, Finland is one of Ukraine's most significant supporters. Since Russia launched its war of aggression, we have provided more than EUR 3.8 billion in support to Ukraine," said Prime Minister Orpo.

"Together, Finland and Ukraine have launched an international civil defence coalition to finance the building of civil defence shelters in Ukraine. We invite all countries to join the coalition, and many parties have already expressed interest in getting involved," Prime Minister Orpo said.

"We must not forget that Finland and Ukraine have been working together for a long time in areas such as defence, education, the rule of law, energy and the environment. Our cooperation is also a way to support Ukraine on its path to EU membership," Prime Minister Orpo continued.

Finland also encourages Finnish companies to take part in the reconstruction of Ukraine. More than ten Finnish companies and representatives of the business community will be attending the conference in Rome.
