Pitt’s CEC in the Hill District moving to the New Granada Theater

The University of Pittsburgh's Community Engagement Center (CEC) in the city's Hill District neighborhood will move to its permanent location in the historic New Granada Theater in early 2026.

Come February, residents and the Pitt community can visit the CEC in its new home at 2007 Centre Ave. Guests should enter the CEC from the entrance on the Wylie Avenue side.

As CEC staff prepare for the move, keep these important dates in mind:

Dec. 23: The last day to go to the CEC at the Blakey Program Center, located at 1908 Wylie Ave.

Dec. 24-Jan. 2: The Hill District CEC is closed for the University's winter recess, and CEC staff are not available.

Jan. 5-30: The CEC in the Hill District is not open to the public. Contact CEC staff by phone or email during regular business hours to set up a meeting or ask any questions.

Feb. 2: The CEC in the Hill District opens to the public and begins a full slate of programming at its space in the New Granada Theater.

The CEC in the Hill District has been at its temporary location in the Blakey Program Center since opening in 2021. The University will serve as an anchor tenant in the New Granada Theater, offering classrooms, offices and programming for Pitt's Center for African American Poetry and Poetics and Jazz Studies program, among other schools and centers. The CEC is part of Phase 1 of the New Granada Theater's renovations, which kicked off in May 2023 by the Hill Community Development Corporation.
