Bellevue launching Lime shared scooters and e bikes

The City of Bellevue is partnering with Lime to launch shared electric bikes and scooters in Bellevue beginning Monday, Aug. 10. The new service expands quick, flexible travel options for first- and last-mile trips, transit connections and everyday errands, while helping reduce congestion.

To celebrate the launch, the city and Lime will host a community event on Friday, Aug. 21, 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the Amazon Meadow (600 108th Avenue NE), featuring mobility resources from community partners and free helmet distribution from Lime.

Lime will initially deploy 500 shared devices citywide-350 scooters, 50 e-bikes and 100 seated gliders. Riders can unlock devices through the Lime app (iOS or Android) or text 415-463-3473 to use without a smartphone. Reduced fares are available through Lime Access for eligible ORCA LIFT, RRFP, Medicaid and other assistance program users.

Later this fall, riders will also be able to receive ride discounts if your trip ends near a light rail station or transit center.

Responsible Parking

Bellevue is committed to keeping sidewalks accessible, and we're all in this together to make the shared e-bike and scooter program work for everyone. Riders are encouraged to park in locations allowed in the Lime app, such as marked parking corrals, and should not block sidewalks, curb ramps, transit stops or building entrances with devices. When parking a device, leave at least six feet of sidewalk clearance. Additionally, do not park in "no parking" zones identified in the Lime app, such as city parks.

Safer Riding

Community members should ride in bike lanes or on multiuse paths whenever possible. Sidewalk riding is not allowed unless no other safe alternative is available.

If you must ride on the sidewalk, slow down, yield to people walking and rolling, and walk your device in crowded areas. Helmet use is required for bicycles and e-bikes and is strongly encouraged for scooters. Ride solo and never operate a device while intoxicated.

Reporting an Issue

Contact Lime support directly in the app, by emailing [email protected] or calling 888-546 3345, for issues with devices:

• devices blocking access to sidewalks, crosswalks, park entrances, etc.
• devices that need assistance (damaged, parked incorrectly)
• devices that need to be removed from or near private property

The city's goal is to operate a shared e-bike and e-scooter program that provides new ways to get around while keeping sidewalks usable for everyone.
