Governor Phil Scott Announces SNAP Benefits to Resume for Vermonters

Montpelier, Vt. - Governor Phil Scott and the Vermont Department for Children and Families (DCF) today announced funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), known in Vermont as 3SquaresVT is now fully restored as a result of the federal government reopening. DCF will resume normal benefit operations immediately following guidance issued today by the USDA.

"The federal government reopening and resuming SNAP benefits is good news for Vermont," said Governor Phil Scott. "There are over 63,000 Vermonters who rely on these benefits and I'm appreciative of the work of Congress to make this possible. I also want to thank legislative leaders for working with my team to issue temporary contingency benefits in the absence of federal funds earlier this month."

"We know how important 3SquaresVT is for families and individuals across Vermont, especially when facing uncertainty," said DCF Economic Services Deputy Commissioner Miranda Gray. "Our teams worked around the clock to make sure benefits were delivered without major disruption, and we're relieved that federal operations have resumed so we can continue providing consistent support to Vermonters."

Eligible households, including those who received the state-funded partial benefit on November 7 will now receive their full November federal benefit automatically through their usual method, either on their EBT card or via direct deposit. EBT benefits will be available on Friday, November 14, and direct deposit cash benefits will be available on Monday, November 17. No action is required from recipients.
